What is Chinese Medicine?

WHAT IS CHINESE MEDICINE?

  •   It includes:
    • Acupuncture
    • Herbal Therapy
    • Massage
    • Nutritional Counseling
    • Exercise
  • The oldest continuously practiced medicine.
  • It has been practiced (and perfected) for more than 2500 years.
  • One quarter of the world's population benefits from Chinese Medicine.

HOW DOES CHINESE MEDICINE WORK?

  • Chinese Medicine pinpoints imbalance and disharmony within the body.
  • Once identified, Chinese Medicine encourages the reestablishment of the individual's unique balance and harmony.
  • Chinese Medicine encourages and strengthens the body's innate ability to care for itself.

HOW DOES CHINESE MEDICINE ACCOMPLISH BALANCE?

It is a logical solution to disparity in body systems.

  • Cool down excess heat (fever).
  • Warm what is too cool.
  • Dry excess dampness (phlegm).
  • Moisten excess dryness (flaking skin).
  • General excess (hyper-functioning) is lessened.
  • Weakness or immune deficiency (hypo-functioning) is built up.
  • Move what is stuck (spasm).
  • Excess or inappropriate movement (diarrhea) is redirected and lessened

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments depends on the duration, severity and nature of your complaint.

  • A single treatment may be enough for a minor or incidental condition.
  • A series of 5 to 15 treatments may resolve many chronic conditions.
  • Degenerative conditions may require many treatments over time.

CAN CHINESE MEDICINE BE USED AS PREVENTIVE CARE?

  • Prevention is a core concept in Chinese Medicine.
  • Chinese Medicine increases and encourages body awareness.
  • Chinese Medicine encourages caring for minor imbalances before they become major imbalances.
  • Chinese Medicine not only creates balance in the body, it maintains balance.
  • Chinese Medicine improves health and vitality by:
    • Boosting the immune system.
    • Increasing energy.
    • Preserving the body's youthfulness.
    • Promoting longevity.

"Most over-the-counter and almost all prescribed drug treatments merely mask symptoms or control health problems or in some way alter the way organs or systems such as the circulatory system work. Drugs almost never deal with the reasons why these problems exist, while they frequently create new health problems as side effects of their activities."
-John R. Lee, M.D.

"The treatments themselves do not 'cure' the condition, they simply restore the body's self-healing ability."

-Leon Chaitow, N.D., D.O.
